How Soon After Hair Transplant Surgery Does Hair Growth Begin?

3/29/2011 6:47:31 AM

Question:

I was told that my new grafts would begin to grow 3 to 5 months after my hair transplant. But I'm confused. When does this time line start? Is it when surgery is done and all grafts are placed? Or does it start after all your hair follicles fall out which took about 3 weeks for me?

Answer:

The estimated 3 to 5 month growth time begins from the day of the hair restoration surgery. Most patients will see initial hair growth by three to four months post-op. By six months you should see a noticeable change.

Be aware that the possibility of shock loss of existing hair in the recipient area can increase the appearance of balding during this time.

Happy growing!
