Still Numb One Month After Hair Transplant Surgery - Is This Normal?

Question:

I had hair transplant surgery one month ago. How long does numbness last in the recipient area?

Answer:

Hair transplant recipient or donor area numbness and tightness can last from a few weeks to a few months depending on 1) how much tissue was removed verses scalp elasticity and 2) how many nerves were severed during the strip harvesting process.

Though the wound heals relatively quickly allowing for staple or suture removal after approximately only ten days nerve endings take awhile to heal and bring back feeling.

I also encourage you to speak with your hair restoration physician to get his/her input on your specific situation.
