Scalp Discoloration Remaining 6 Months After a Hair Transplant

Question:

I am 6 months out from hair restoration surgery. Hair regrowth is progressing well however, I still have residual pinkness that is slightly discernible and causes questions. When does that usually subside? I also have continued numbness although that is beginning to dissipate slowly.

Answer:

Scalp discoloration after a hair transplant usually disappears within a couple of months after the procedure. Cases of extended postoperative pinkness exist, but if you see no signs of it diminishing I'd advise you to speak to your hair restoration physician who may be able to prescribe something for you.

Numbness or tightness of the scalp can take up to a year or more to fully dissipate. The fact that it's diminishing over time is encouraging and expected.
