Should I Take 2mg of Propecia (Finasteride) Daily to Treat Hair Loss?

4/21/2011 4:53:22 AM

My doctor prescribed me 1mg finasteride twice a day (morning &
evening). Is it good to have it twice a day? Also, can it regrow hair in addition to stopping hair loss?

The approved dose of finasteride for treating hair loss is 1mg daily. Taking this twice per day is unnecessary and may lead to a greater risk of side effects.

In addition to slowing the progression of Androgenic Alopecia (male pattern balding), Propecia (finasteride 1mg) may may also result in new hair growth.

Results vary from patient to patient. It is recommended that patients take Propecia for up to 12 months before assessing their results.
