Should I Wait for the Next Hair Restoration Breakthrough or Get a Hair Transplant?

7/2/2010 7:38:50 AM

Question:

I miss having hair! Does anyone know if there are any near breakthroughs scientifically speaking? I can hold out for another couple years if the right treatment is just around the corner.

Answer:

If you are experiencing hair loss, the last thing you want to do is wait and lose valuable time, not to mention potentially irreplaceable hair.

The first thing you should do is consult a dermatologist in order to determine the nature of your hair loss. You may benefit from non-surgical hair loss treatments like Rogaine (minoxidil) and Propecia (finasteride). At this point in time, these are the only clinically proven and FDA approved medical treatments for hair loss.  Rogaine and Propecia, when used in combination, are considered by many experts to be the best drug treatment for hair loss currently available.

To be honest, there is not likely to be any medical breakthroughs in the near future. Even if something revolutionary were discovered today, it would take years to clear the FDA. The sooner you take action to stabilize your hair loss medically, the better your results will be.

To find out if you are a candidate for surgical hair restoration I recommend that you consult our list of prescreened quality hair restoration physicians and schedule a free online consultation.
