Spotty Hair Growth after Four Hair Transplants: Why is This Happening?

9/20/2012 3:16:13 AM

I've had 4 previous hair transplant surgeries to restore my hairline and gain more density through the frontal area. The last two surgeries, 650 grafts and 500 grafts, were specifically to fill the thin frontal left side area. The right side of the frontal area is great but I'm still disappointed with the left frontal side which is still "gappy" and thin. Would it be wise to go in for a fifth procedure to get more density or is the reason the surgeries are not working and I should try a different option?

As a veteran of 4 hair restoration surgeries, I’m sure you know that there are numerous factors that come into play with regard to hair growth. But, generally speaking, if the hair is harvested from the safe zone and implanted properly into normal tissue without transection of the follicles, it should grow just fine.

Were all of your surgeries with the same surgeon? What is your doctor’s take on your growth? Is your hair transplant surgeon recommended by the Hair Transplant Network? The skill of the physician and techs is critical to a positive outcome.

Your doctor or another (I highly recommend seeking more than one opinion) will be best suited to evaluating your eligibility for another procedure.
