What Hair Restoration Treatments are Available for a 22 Year Old Male?

9/4/2010 3:57:38 AM

Question:

I am just 22 years old. My hair started to fall out at the age of 12. Now I am almost bald. What can I do or what remedies are available for me to get my hair back?

Answer:

This sounds as if it may be an extreme case of male pattern balding but I recommend that you first see a dermatologist to determine the nature of your hair loss. You have stated that you are almost bald but that means different things to different people. Refer to the Norwood Scale and try to determine which stage most closely resembles the current state of your hair loss. Depending on your degree of balding, you may benefit from non-surgical treatments such as Rogaine (minoxidil) and Propecia (finasteride).

Typically, a patient your age may not be considered a candidate for surgical hair transplantation. However, if your hair loss is really that advanced, you may be an exception. If you are interested in learning about surgical hair restoration options, the best thing to do is to consult our list of prescreened quality hair restoration physicians and schedule a free online consultation.
