What is the Average Cost of a Hair Transplant Surgery?

10/7/2009 12:21:27 PM

Question:

Please tell me what it costs to get a hair transplant and restore my hair.

Answer:

Depending on the type of hair transplant procedure you choose and clinic you select to perform your procedure, prices can range anywhere from $3 to $10 per follicular unit graft. For example, if you end up undergoing follicular unit hair transplantation (FUT) of 2000 grafts with a qualified surgeon who charges $4 per follicular unit, you'll end up paying $8000. If you opt for follicular unit excision (formerly known as follicular unit extraction) (FUE) and the surgeon you select charges $7 per follicular unit, you'll end up payihng $14000 for the same 2000 grafts. There are advantages, limitations, and potential problems with both procedures. Therefore, it's important for you to research both procedures and speak to a physician about the best procedure for you.

The number of grafts you will require can only be determined by working with a qualified hair transplant surgeon. Your own personal goals, finances, amount of hair loss (present and future) and your available donor supply will ultimately determine how many grafts and procedures you will need.

In my opinion, consult with one of our prescreened hair transplant surgeons and discuss your goals and your options.
