What is the Optimal Blade Size for Hair Transplant Surgery?

11/18/2011 2:35:13 AM

In this hair transplant article I read it mentioned that custom blades should be as small as .6mm. I'm going to get a hair transplant with a doctor that uses 1mm blades. Is there a big difference between .6mm and 1mm in this case?

Hair restoration surgeons typically use more than one blade size depending upon the number of hairs in the follicular unit graft. Surgeons practicing ultra refined follicular unit hair transplantation may use 1mm blades or even very slightly larger to accommodate larger grafts.
