What Should I Do If I'm Not Happy with My Hair Transplant 6 Months after Surgery?

I had follicular unit excision (formerly known as follicular unit extraction) (FUE) exactly 6 Months ago and I'm not satisfied with my frontal results. Both sides at the frontal area seem very thin and I keep getting the impression that there hasn't been much Implanted.

I was told I had 2,100 grafts. After 6 months can I still expect more hair growth? It's just that I cannot see any new hairs growing and I'm worried my hair transplant has failed. I'm also using Propecia (finasteride) and Rogaine (minoxidil) 5% solution on a daily basis.

It’s not uncommon for hair restoration patients to worry and obsess about their procedure and eventual results. However, you chose your physician for a reason. Now you need to trust that he delivered what was promised until you have evidence to show otherwise. Though it may seem like a canned response, the best advice I can give you at this stage is to wait one full year before assessing your results. At only 6 months after surgery you can expect about 60% of your final hair growth.

If your hair transplant surgeon is ethical and skilled, I’m sure you’ll be very happy once your procedure matures. However, it’s important to note that even under the best circumstances, sometimes hair transplants don’t meet expectations. If that is the case after one year has passed, you should notify your physician and discuss your options. An ethical surgeon will stand behind his work and do whatever is possible to ensure a satisfactory outcome.
