Why Has Balding Increased Less Than Two Months after Hair Transplant Surgery?

8/4/2011 4:16:12 AM

I went through hair transplant surgery just one and a half months ago and I am very disturbed and depressed as a big bald patch developed near my donor area and I experienced terrible hair loss all over. Will my original fallen hair regrow and how long will it take? Please help!

The thinning hair you are describing in consistent with post-operative shock loss. Shock loss of existing hairs is temporary but it can make you look worse before you begin to look better. Your shocked hairs should begin to grow back along with your newly transplanted hairs between 3 and 4 months after surgical hair restoration.

While you are waiting for new hair growth, you may find that using a hair loss concealer will help you hide the additional balding.

I also highly recommend discussing your concerns with your hair transplant surgeon.
