Will Laser Therapy Assist Hair Regrowth from Hair Transplant Surgery?

12/13/2008 10:47:06 PM

Question:

I had a hair transplant procedure of 1800 grafts over 6 weeks ago and now the hair is shedding as expected. I've read some articles that laser therapy hair loss treatment may be beneficial in regrowing hair faster. Is it advisable to use the HairMax laser comb on my head 6 weeks after surgery?

Answer:

The good news is, using low level laser therapy isn't going to harm your grafts. However, there is much debate over whether or not low level laser therapy has any benefit to stop hair loss, stimulate hair growth, or aid postoperative healing.

Hair transplantation is a process that takes up to a year to mature, whether or not you use any supplements or medical devices to attempt to facilitate it. Therefore, using laser therapy is not necessary to ensure your hair transplant matures as it should. But if you are compelled, the HairMax laser comb won't hurt you.
