Will the Donor Area Regrow Hair after a FUE Hair Transplant?

10/13/2010 2:36:34 AM

After a follicular unit excision (formerly known as follicular unit extraction) (FUE) hair transplant procedure, will the donor area regrow hair?

Both follicular unit excision (FUE) and follicular unit transplantation (FUT) involve permanently removing follicular unit grafts from the donor area and relocating them to the balding areas of the scalp. These hairs will not be replaced in the donor site even with follicular unit excision (FUE). However, in most cases, FUE results in very tiny pinpoint scars that should be easily concealed even with very short hair.
