Worried about Hair Transplant Scar Stretching After Surgery

6/8/2009 3:03:15 PM

Question:

As far as scar stretching after a hair transplant does it tend to stretch only after continually doing something that pulls or stretches it?

Answer:

Scar stretching is a heavily discussed topic on our hair loss discussion forum. The truth is there are a number of unknown variables that may cause scar stretching even when the patient is extremely careful. However minimizing activities post-op that could put a strain on the donor scar will minimize that risk. For the hair restoration physician's part, closing the wound under low tension is extremely vital to minimize the risks of stretching.
